Ever since the end of the second season of Euphoria back in February 2022, fans everywhere have been eagerly awaiting concrete news about the third season. We don’t know much yet about how it will pan out, but after such a climatic second season, we have high expectations. Here’s everything we know so far. Needless to say, spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen the first two seasons! (And if you haven’t seen them, get on that stat.)
To give you a bit of a recap, season two ends with a performance of Lexi’s school play, Our Life, which represents the lives of the characters in the show; Maddy finds out about Nate and Cassie’s not-so-secret relationship; Nate exposes his father’s past dirty secrets; Rue makes progress with her recovery and makes amends with the people she hurt; and finally, we’re left with a painful Fezco cliffhanger.
Filming Will Likely Begin Sometime in February 2023 – With production majorly pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, season three is set to begin filming at some point in February 2023. Each episode takes approximately one month to film, and then everything must go through the post-production process, meaning that season three will likely be released some time in 2024.
Kat Won’t Be Returning… – Sadly, Barbie Ferreira announced on Instagram in August that Kat would not be returning in season three, after being given a disappointingly small storyline in season two. Rumors have circulated that Ferreira’s departure is the result of disagreements with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, although she stated that said rumors have been blown way out of proportion.
…But Other Familiar Faces Will Be Back – Luckily, the other major characters have confirmed that they’ll be making a return to the show, including Zendaya (and let’s be real, the show just wouldn’t be the same without her). Sidney Sweeney expressed interest in getting to explore Cassie’s dark side more in the upcoming season. “I would love to play with more of that streak within herself,” she said in an interview with Variety.
Tom Holland Could Make an Appearance – Unfortunately, rumors that the Spider-Man actor made a cameo in season two turned out to be false, but Holland has expressed interest in nabbing a role in the show. However, only time will tell if that becomes a reality.
Fezco Will Be Returning – At the end of season two we were left with a gut-wrenching cliffhanger scene in which Ashtray is killed and Fezco gets detained by police. The good news is that we will in fact be seeing Angus Cloud again in the next season. “I can’t wait to get back to work with everyone,” he said in an interview with E! News in October 2022. “Definitely not sure what to expect for Fezco, but knowing Sam [Levinson], it will be good.” There you have it, folks!
